NCC Police Community
Programs |
 |
The New Castle County Police sponsors and manages a large number of
community programs, but two of them, in particular,
stand out as being very useful for seniors who live alone
and anyone requiring extra care. The first program is a free
program by the name of
Senior Rollcall and the other program is
Project Lifesaver which places personalized radio
transmitters on identified persons to monitor their
whereabouts; therefore there are monitoring fees for it, but
the cost is reasonable.

According to Realty Trac, this past month 563 Delaware homes were in
foreclosure.
This represents one in every 704 housing units across the state. These
statistics highlight the critical need for free and objective foreclosure
prevention counseling.
The
attached bulletin profiles local 5019(c)(3) agency Consumer Credit
Counseling Service of MD & DE’s mortgage foreclosure prevention counsel-ing
efforts, describes an actual client’s experience in this program, and highlights
two no-cost upcoming foreclo-sure prevention workshops that will be held in the
coming months in Delaware.
CCCS also presents free personal finance and housing
education workshops at local businesses, agencies, schools,
and church-es. To schedule an educational seminar for your
group, please contact CCCS Director of Education Jim Harris
at
jharris@cccs-inc.org or 410-747-2050.

Tavistock a Tree-Friendly
Community |
|
 |
|
Tree Committee
Members: (L-R)
Frank Maderich, Chair, Rich Costello, Jim Saberton, and Don
Thureau, President of Tavistock, with a Delaware sign
designating Tavistock as a tree-friendly community.
Trees are one of our most important resources in
Tavistock. They not only help clean the air and produce
oxygen, but they also enhance our property values. While our
tree committee is doing a commendable job in inspecting all
our street trees and helping homeowners replace sick or dead
ones, it is important for all homeowners to take ownership
in their trees by fertilizing and spraying for fungus and
insects, as well as inspecting their own trees including
those not next to the street. See "Trees for Delaware"
in the Documents
section of this website. |

Neighborhood Crime |
Senior Cpl. Amy Kevis from the New Castle County Police
Department reported the following this morning, July
28th:
"I just
got finished driving thru the neighborhood and had to
let you know just how DARK
the neighborhood is! That is a very attractive feature
to would-be criminals..please, please, please
remind everyone in Tavistock to keep lights on all night
and to encourage those that don't already do it to
consider doing so. I know I have said this at your
meetings and have fielded questions regarding lighting.
If people are not going to take steps to keep their
property safe, no amount of periodic police presence
will make up for it. The
non-emergency number is 573-2800...the report can be
filed right at that number too."
You all heard it from the expert. We're making
it too easy on the crooks. Let's fight back and make it
more difficult for crime to occur! Light up your outdoor
lights.
If you see anything or
anyone who looks suspicious, please contact:
